What Exactly is Fumble?

Hold Privately
A sloppy shuffle leads to a sloppy game — and not in a good way. Deal the cards as evenly as possible. Each player holds their cards face-up toward themselves, like a private little stack of secrets. You may only look at the top card of your own pile. Place one card face-up in the middle of the table — this is the active card. Everyone can see it. Everyone is judged by it.
GAMEPLAY
How to Play
No Turns. Ever.
Everyone plays simultaneously, all the time. Each player compares the active card in the centre with the top card of their own deck. Somewhere between those two cards is one shared image. It might be obvious. It might make you blush. Either way, it's there.
Making Your Move
The moment you spot the matching image, you must:
- Shout the name of the image out loud
- Slam your top card face-up onto the centre
That card instantly becomes the new active card. No pauses. No mercy.
Get it right — you're still in.
Get it wrong — you've embarrassed yourself for nothing.
THE RULES
Shout it Out
Name the matching image aloud. Mumbling doesn't count. Confidence is mandatory.
Simultaneous Shouts
If two players shout at once, the table decides who spoke first. If no one can agree, both cards go back to their owners and play resumes with the previous active card.
Slam It Down
Your Card becomes the new active card. The game never stops - everyone switches instantly.
Empty Hand Wins
First player to get rid of all their card wins. Everyone else loses - hopefully with dignity long since abandoned.

Optional Adult Additions
Because this is Fumble, not a children's tea party, groups are encouraged to add their own penalties and rewards. Agree on any extras before the game starts. Consent is sexy.
Wrong Call? Sip.

Last Player? Dare.
Still holding cards when someone wins? Perform a dare. The table chooses.
